Adulting? No Thanks!

Hey Blog Fam! Life has been absolutely crazy, but I’m so glad to finally get back to writing. I’m back with a little update, I’ve just moved into my first apartment in D.C. and started my full time internship. There is so much change, but a good type of change!

Living on your own in an apartment is so much different than living in a dorm! I’m only a few weeks in, but I’m already seeing how big of a step this is! Is it just me or did being at home for a year not sound so bad after all? Just kidding. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry; it’s a lot! Being on your own comes with a lot of responsibility and discipline but unfortunately, we have to grow up sooner or later!

For all of my readers that are newly living on their own and are always on the go, here are a few things that have helped me so far.

  • Order your groceries! This is so life changing because who has time to go all the way to the store and back? Not me. If you have Amazon prime, you can easily order your groceries through Whole Foods & Fresh. It'll come directly to your door with a short wait time.

  • Meal Prep! This is one of the hardest but most essential for me. If you’re like me and always have something going on it can be hard to stick to a healthy diet and eat at home. Having your meals ready to go is half the battle! It saves so much time and energy.

  • My last and best tip is give yourself grace! This is all new to a lot of us, especially after living at home and depending on your parents for so long. Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn as you go. We don’t have to have all the answers right now, it’ll come, I know it!

As much as I’d love to go back to being a kid and living free with no responsibilities, this is adulting and there’s no turning back now! Although there are plenty of things to complain about when it comes to adulting, independence is so liberating. You get to make your life the way you want it on your own terms, so embrace it!
